"It's easily audible across a noisy room, above the sound of normal conversation." Those were the words used by our editor-in-chief Jack Forster to describe the volume of the Supersonnerie's chime in his hands-on review of Audemars Piguet's latest and greatest minute repeater. Well, he wasn't kidding, and we just got irrefutable proof on live television courtesy of CNBC and AP CEO Francois-Henry Bennahmias.
ADVERTISEMENTLast week, during an interview on CNBC's Squawk on the Street show, Bennahmias played the minute repeater in basically the worst possible circumstances ?on a busy television set ?but you could still hear it chime very clearly. Even wealth reporter Robert Frank talking over it couldn't drown out the sound of the cutting-edge minute repeater. You can tell from the look on Bennahmias's face why the CEO felt a live demonstration of the company's most expensive minute repeater wasn't a risk at all. Most CEOs would have politely turned that invitation down, but then again they wouldn't be holding the same fake watch as Bennahmias, would they?
Name the time and place. Chances are you will hear the chime of the Audemars Piguet Concept Supersonnerie discernibly, whatever the circumstances.
During the interview, Bennahmias also confirmed that people are actually buying the $510,000 super-watch. The latest client is a 28-year-old tech investor who just sold his third company. Bennahmias also appeared extremely satisfied with the company's results this year, revealing AP was "two to three years" out from becoming a billion dollar company. The interview also confirms the status of the U.S. market as number one for Audemars Piguet.
